Find a comfortable place and sit up straight.
Place pillows on your side to support your arm or invest in a breastfeeding pillow.
Lay your baby across your chest. The baby’s body should be in a straight line.
Support the baby’s head with one hand and your breast with the other. Place your thumb on the top of your breast and your fingers below.
Use your nipple to gently rub the baby’s lip until he opens his mouth. Keep trying until his mouth is opened completely.
Bring the baby’s head to your breast. Do not try to force your breast into the baby’s mouth.
Support your baby’s body so the nipple stays deep in his mouth.
If you feel any pain, unlatch and try again.
